Wal-Mart Associates
ICS team members??

Love Yourself
I'm getting hired in for ICS. I worked at Wal-Mart before for 6 years [from April 99 to May 2005] and worked for about a year on ICS. Just wondering what, if anything has changed with InStock since 2005. I hear there's been a lot of changes with Wal-Mart in general.

Any ICS team leaders here??

They are still finding ways to screw us.

You know, I've always wondered...what exactly do ICS associates do?

In my store, I've mostly seen them stock stuff in various departments, but I've also seen a couple work price changes and whatnot.

I guess, it varies in different stores. Some managers like to cross-train them to do other things when necessary. Ours does that.

In our store....Their primarily obligation is pull the pick-list requests that the dept. managers key in of the mornings when scanning their outs. Throughout the day they pull items from the stock room as needed [when another associate calls for something from the floor] They are responsible for keeping paper goods and chemicals stocked of the evenings after the dept. manager leaves. Whenever we have a truck, we work freight directly off the truck and then return what will not go up to the receiving area. Ours is a small hometown store though. So, I'm sure things are drastically different.

Price changes >.<
The backbone of the ICs guide says "no special projects." to me, that's a special project...

Yep, it sure is. Maybe things have changed since I was there before. I should hope. This was 4 years ago that I worked on ICS before.

In my store, we have an IST (Instock Team) and what we do (I am on the second shift IST) is we do pretty much EVERYHTING. Unloading trucks, helping customers, working customer service, mixing pint, stocking shelves, working price changes, working in the deli, mod changes, casheiring, cash pick-ups, garden center, pushing carts, and the list goes on. It pretty much depends on what the store manager thinks you should be doing.

Yeah, that's pretty much the way it is at ours too. Of course, we are a very small hometown store & are working with a skeleton crew as it is. *lol* I think where our store has one ICS team & they work 11am to 8pm, we do more stockroom work because of pick lists and such, but after that, anything goes. Yesterday was my first day back. Our backroom looks like a tornado went through it. I'm not sure I want to go back today. *haha* Ours is called InStock too. I just can't get used to calling it that. It used to be ICS when I was working it before. Matter of fact, my badge flip they gave me yesterday still says "ICS Associate." 0_o
