i am a service writer for wal-mart TLE (tire lube express) now dont get me wrong it does get interesting in TLE (tire lube express) here is when it gets interesting and frankley some of the interesting stuff does tick me off.
1= when the customer calls asking if we do brakes (hello does it say brakes in tire lube express?)
2= when they tick off the tech that is going to work on your car and the tech stands there with an evil grin. (makes me laugh)
3= when they bring there dogs then wonder why they cant go into the store
then yell at me when they cant (hello grocery store we sell food you cant bring an animal in unless it is a service animal!!)
4= when i tell them it will be 5 hours to get the car or truck worked on for tires (and yes i do mean a five hour wait) then they come back with the store manager complaining to high heaven on why his or her car or truck isnt ready and i tell the manager "i told them it would be 5 hours" so what does the manager do he makes my dept manager pull him or her in while everyone else who has been waiting a while watches this car go ahead of their own and then i have to mediate between those who waiting and the jerk who was able to cut in line

oh i have plenty more stories and i happy to tell them let me know and also please when you come to TLE dont "tell" me to vaccum your car and dont threaten me with the manager if i dont do it right it just ticks me off and remember i am in your vehicle (evil grin) thanks for listening

Understandable.. I'm a tech... Thankfully I'm actually in a store that's staffed *GASP*.. a TLE that is STAFFED?? (most of the time) so our wait times aren't generally too bad. In my last store we could have enough cars by 1 on a Saturday to keep us busy until we closed at 9 - that's ridiculous.

The thing that peeves me right now is we do our jobs right, we get penalized, we do it wrong, we get penalized. For example, we had a gentleman complain about his vehicle only having 4.5 quarts of oil put in it. He had an additive that took up 1 quart, otherwise it generally takes 5.5 quarts of oil. He wanted the 1/2 a quart that we didn't put in it to make it his full 5 that is supposed to come with the oil change. He couldn't understand that it is UP TO 5 quarts of oil. Long story short, we didn't give it to him and he called the store manager. Our support manager stood by her decision not to give it to the guy and management sent him a $5 gift card and a free oil change for the inconvenience. So, I did my job right, but because he threw a fit we took a loss for it. Frustrating.

Just remember when you get that evil grin that whatever you do to that car could cost you.

People sure expect a lot out of a TLE the name says it all Tire and Lube express don't expect nothing more than that. Customers piss me off maybe thats why I am in receiving a lot less stress ful than the sales floor

hmmm our name tag says "our people make the difference" not "we work for you... always..." man that sounds so horrible and is asking for trouble if customers see those words

Well, in defense of #1, I generally take my car to a place to get almost all it's work done, brakes, suspension, an alternator, seat belt latch (that was today) and next paycheck probably have the air conditioner fixed too. The only thing I don't really get done there is exhaust stuff (and only because they were honest and told me what I needed done could be done for 1/5 the cost at a real muffler shop since they had the right tools).

The name of the place though is "Tire Source", which if taken at face value, wouldn't do any of the things they do for me. In fact, the only thing I DON'T get done there is tires, since I get those at our TLE for a discount.

Well, the only 2 things I don't get there... exhaust stuff and tires....

Just wanted to clarify that before someone did it for me. You can always count on the internet denizens for that. :)

I am also a TLE greeter/service writer. That means I greet the customer, write the service order, and that is supposed to be the end of it. But not for me. I greet, write the service order, do the courtesy, find the tires for the techs, stock the oil, answer the phone, look up work orders and tire quotes on the comp., run the register, and help customers inside the store find items they need, and stock inside the store also. I love my job. I work very hard and feel like I go way beyond my job requirements with no monetary compensation but I do it anyway just because I don't believe in standing around and doing nothing so I stay busy. The thing that bugs me the most is that one of our inside persons stands around doing nothing more than eaves drops to find rumors to spread or talks on the phone (personal calls) or just plain watches out the window while we work. Then when she finally has one customer (not my ususal 5 or 10 customers) that needs tires for a carry out or someone calls to see if a certain tire is in stock she does not even consider the possibilty that it is her job to go look and get for herself. No matter what I am doing she will open the window and scream tire sizes at me. It drives me mad. IT IS HER JOB!!!!!! As for the customers and their weird antics it goes something like this:
1= Why do you have to have my mileage to fix a flat? That is ridicolous. Response: I have to check every vehicle to write the order.
2= Why don't you have any help? I shouldn't have to wait that long. Response: Because no one can pass background and drug tests. Walmart doesn't want drug using thieves in your car or working on it, do you?
3= Why can't I have Castrol for 18.88? Response: Because that is only a Supertech oil change. Response: That is ridicolous I don't want to pay the higher price. Response: I just write the orders, I don't make the prices.
4= This time vacuum very good. Last time my seats didn't get vaccuumed and there was dog hair still on my mats. Response: Vaccumming is just a courtesy. You pay for the fluid check and fill, battery check, and light checks. We don't do seats because we might get grease from the hoses on them and our cleaners don't pick up dog hair very well. Response: Well, you better get it done right this time or I will speak to your manager. Response: Let's call the manager before we start and you can ask for yourself. Response: No that's ok.
Thought So.
5= Why does it matter that my stud is broke there are 4 others that are fine. That is discrimination because I don't have a fancy car and I am not rich. Response: Read the signs buddy. I don't care if you are driving a Mercedes and are the President of the company, we still won't touch it with a broke stud or missing lug. Get a grip.
There are lots more but you get the gest of it.
